Pablo Lastra has practiced immigration law since 2013 and has successfully obtained permanent residence, citizenship, and other forms of immigration benefits for hundreds of immigrants. He has successfully litigated over two dozen cases in immigration court, including complex cases involving criminal records and complex legal and factual issues. He also has expertise in assessing the immigration consequences of criminal charges and convictions and obtaining post-conviction remedies to help immigrants applying for immigration benefits or seeking to avoid deportation. He has represented clients seeking U visas, consular processing of immigrant visas, asylum, cancelation of removal, adjustment of status, military Parole-in-Place, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, NACARA, Temporary Protected Status, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, appeals before the Board of Immigration Appeals, and litigation in federal court.
Before becoming a partner, Pablo was an associate at Law Offices of Fellom & Solorio for three years. He previously worked as a lawyer at Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights San Francisco and spent two years at civil rights law firms specializing in litigation involving the Fair Housing Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Pablo was born and raised in Mexico City and immigrated to the United States as a teenager. He received his law degree from Harvard Law School and has a master’s degree in in journalism from the University of North Texas and a bachelor's degree in journalism (summa cum laude) from Southern Methodist University. Prior to studying law, Pablo worked as a journalist for five years, receiving awards from the Fort Worth Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, the Dallas Press Club, and recognition from Investigative Reporters and Editors. He is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and is licensed by the State Bar of California.
Pablo is fully fluent in English and Spanish. In his spare time, Pablo likes to draw portraits, play guitar, and hike with his wife and son.
